Eleanor Hartley leads the Inkego newsroom and owns its editorial standards — from how we fact-check and source a story to when and how we correct one. If a piece carries the Inkego byline, it has passed through the standards she set.

A graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Eleanor spent more than fifteen years running science and technology desks before co-founding Inkego. She has edited award-considered investigations, launched a weekly science column, and mentored a generation of reporters on the unglamorous craft that makes journalism trustworthy: verification, attribution, and the discipline to kill a good line that isn't true.

She is based in New York and writes occasionally for Inkego on process and standards — the questions interview subjects most often ask before they say yes.
